Loved ones of the medicated

Whether you are a spouse, fiancé’, brother or sister, know that what you are experiencing is one the hardest things you will live through. It will take time, patience, prayer and understanding. Even then your life will be forever changed. We have couples who have found their way back to each other, it can happen, but you must remember that while your loved one is medicated, they are under the influence of the drug and there is a very good chance their mind has been altered. Serotonin receptors are responsible for thoughts, feelings, emotions, memory and much more. It’s found in the gut so good gut health could help. We have seen some wake up from being spell bound- regretting what they have done. We have seen some go wild while on the drugs, doing things they would never do.

Self care will become very important for you. No matter what, you have to take care of yourself. Your loved on is there, buried, trying to get out. Once they start to taper, you may see windows of your loved one or they may just pop back. It really depends on the unique brain of your loved one, how long they have taken the drugs and how well their body responds. If your loved one has shown signs they can’t miss a dose or they get zaps, you will nee do go very slow with tapering.
